Amazon Fire TV Cube The Amazon Fire TV Cube ships June 21. ($89 at Amazon.)

The weeks and months of leaks and teasing are over — the Amazon Fire TV Cube is officially official. It'll cost $119 — though Amazon Prime members can get it for $30 off through June 8 — and is available June 21. It's up for preorder now.

Amazon Fire TV CubeAs expected, this is a full 4K Amazon Fire TV box that also has Amazon Alexa built in for controlling all the things. But it goes further than the usual Alexa-enabled fare. Because this plugs into a TV and has CEC control, you'll be able to control all the things that are physically connected to your TV. You'll be able to use Alexa to change inputs and tune to things directly on different devices.

Fire TV Cube also has a built-in speaker, so you won't have to rely on the TV being on to interact with Alexa, which makes sense. And far-filled microphones mean you won't have to be right up on the Fire TV Cube for it to hear you.

On the technical side, the Cube supports HDR 10 for high-dynamic range (still no Dolby Vision, which is not surprising), and has 16GB of on-board storage — twice that of the Fire TV pendant. RAM comes in at 2GB. It also supports Dolby Atmos audio (you'll need compatible speakers, of course, and supports Ethernet using Amazon's microUSB adapter. If Wifi is more your thing, the Fire TV Cube supports 802.11ac networks.

Amazon also notes that if you buy a Fire TV Cube and register it by July 1, you'll get a $10 credit for Prime Video.
